For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life – John 3:16
You probably have already seen this phrase before. A lot of times. Have you ever really thought about what it means?
What strikes me about this specific verse is its simplicity and objectivity. The whole plan of salvation in one sentence. On the other hand, there is a lot to say about it. Max Lucado wrote a whole book to explain it.
In one single sentence, you have the whole Gospel laid out for you:
- God showed his love for us by providing the only way to reach Him: He gave his son, Jesus Christ, to pay what was demanded by justice. Jesus was sentenced to death in our place.
- With the death of Jesus, the price was paid and we can enjoy a relationship with God, not because we are worthy, but because Jesus was.
Keep this message in your mind. God loved YOU so much that he did the unthinkable to save you. He gave his own son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price that justice demanded. To set you free.
You can make your choice because he paid the price to give you a choice.
Love is a verb, as such it requires action. God didn’t just “feel” love for you, he acted. Now, it is your turn…
